This scuba diving experience takes place at Caldera Beach in Akrotiri, directly in front of the sea. The dive station is operated by a PADI Dive Resort and offers easy access to several dive sites from the shore, making the experience convenient, safe and well organized.

The location is ideal for both first-time divers and certified divers. The dive station overlooks the Volcanoes and the Caldera of Santorini and includes a beach setup with sun beds, shades and a seating area, where divers can relax before or after their dives.

Diving from Caldera Beach, Akrotiri

The dive station is located at Caldera Beach, also known as Apothikes, in Akrotiri. One of the main advantages of this location is the direct shore access to different dive spots.

Immediately in front of the dive station, there are three different dive areas accessible from the beach. The reef has different levels and begins in shallow water before extending into the volcanic caldera. This makes it suitable for controlled beginner experiences, while also offering interesting routes for certified divers.

The area is known for marine life, volcanic underwater formations and Posidonia Oceanica meadows, the Mediterranean seagrass habitat that supports a great diversity of sea life.

Discover Scuba Diving for Beginners

The Discover Scuba Diving program is designed for guests who have never tried scuba diving before or do not have a diving certification.

The experience begins at the dive station on the beach, where a qualified instructor explains the basic scuba principles, important underwater hand signals and how to use the equipment. The briefing takes around 20 minutes.

After the briefing, guests wear the wetsuit and scuba equipment and enter the water directly from the beach. The first breaths underwater take place in shallow water, about waist deep, so beginners can feel comfortable before continuing.

Once comfortable, guests follow the instructor for a guided dive to the nearby reef, where they can enjoy the underwater scenery and marine life.

The underwater time is around 35 minutes, with a maximum depth of 7 meters. The total duration of the experience is approximately 2 hours.

Available times: 10:00 and 12:30.
Price: €90 per person.

Guided Shore Dives for Certified Divers

Certified divers can join two guided shore dives from the dive station at Caldera Beach.

The dives take place at two different shore-entry dive sites in front of the dive station: House Reef and 3 Rocks. Both dives are guided by qualified instructors and are designed for certified divers who want to explore Santorini’s volcanic underwater environment.

The certified divers program operates daily from 10:00 to 14:00.

Price: €100 per person.

Important Diving Information

Advanced booking is required.

For equipment preparation, guests must provide their first name, height, weight and shoe size before the activity.

The meeting point is the dive station at Caldera Beach, Akrotiri, also known as Apothikes.

Guests should also know that after one dive, it is not recommended to take a flight for 12 hours.

Payment by credit card may not be available at the dive station, so guests should be prepared accordingly.

All diving activities are guided by qualified instructors and the equipment is sanitized after each use.
